The Ozette Triangle

Violet Beach by David A. Scott.

Cape Alva, Sandpoint, and Lake Ozette are at the Northwest corner of the Olympic Peninsula. Not quite to Cape Flattery. It is a wonderful place to visit.

The lake is right at the Olympic National Park entrance and you can reach Sandpoint by hiking 3 miles west along a mostly boardwalk trail through lovely coastal forest.

About the map.

We photographers have a tendency to trample and ruin a good spot because so many people visit. For this reason, I don\’t always provide a precise geo-tag on these maps. They are intended to give you a general idea of the location, not the tripod marks.

  1. Dave, this shot is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the general location. I’ve never been up there and am excited to go, but wasn’t sure where to start.

    1. Sometime this summer I intend to hike the full triangle. The two times I have been there have been out to Sandpoint.
Cape Flattery is on my bucket list also.
Can’t wait for this covid crud to be done!
