Sunrise on the Loneliest Highway

This is near the entrance to Cedar Breaks National Monument which would have been a destination on our trip except it would not be open for another month. Something about snow in these higher elevations.

The Westlake tree and the Macy’s star light up the plaza as the yearend celebrations draw near.

A group of fearless youngsters watch as their friend does a backflip off of the old pier on Coconut Island in Hilo Bay. To make this image, I put the camera into multiple shot mode and held the shutter from when the boy jumped until he was in the water. The collection was then stacked in Photoshop as layers. I then painted a mask on each layer to reveal only the boy as he spun down into the water. Visualize your shot, think how you will execute it, then release the shutter.
