Skagit In March

Red-Tail Landing by David Scott.

The Skagit Estuary is the winter home to Snow Geese and Trumpeter Swans. They usually arrive in late November and stay through April. Liddy and I drove up to Mount Vernon to see if we could find the flocks at the end of March.

We did find a big flock, but it was way out in the middle of some farmer’s field. Short of being an obvious trespasser, there would be no photos of snow geese there 🤔.

Not a total loss, however. We did capture a short-eared owl and a red-tailed hawk.
