The Westlake tree and the Macy’s star light up the plaza as the yearend celebrations draw near.
Liddy is nestled down in our sleeping bag ready for the night. There is just enough room for my 6 foot frame to stretch out in the back of our Toyota Prius. It is a wee bit dusty from cruising the gravel roads of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. We are on a road trip to Southern California this month.
We were up to Seattle on the weekend taking advantage of a break in the weather. The nice thing is that after the rain has washed the grime from the sky, the skyline looks stunning! From Kerry Park.
The Steens Mountain Wilderness is managed in cooperation with the local ranchers by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). It is a vast 500,000-acre region south of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The South Steens Herd Management Area (HMA) is traversed by the South Steens Loop Road making it easy to spot and photograph these magnificent animals in the wild. The herds in this HMA are managed to maintain healthy Pinto specimens.
Some years ago, I captured this shot of Liddy trotting across a meadow during one of our lunchtime walks.
