The gases rising from the Kilauea’s caldera are iluminated by the lava venting far below. This was about two and a half hours after sunset.
On a visit to the Akatsuka Orchid Gardens, we encountered this very different specimen. Too Cool. Aptly named.
This image was created from 10 exposures, focus stacked to improve the depth of field and detail.
There is something about the sea that attracts us all. Is it the constant motion of the waves: The thought of distant shores? Exotic places?
Liddy watches the ocean waves as they roll in against the seawall on Alli’i Drive. If we were in Puerto Vallarta, this would be the Malacon.
This yellow Ohi’a can be found in the Waimea Nature Park. The Park has a collection of these trees in about 8 different variations.

What you don’t know is it a composite of seventeen images shot with a different focus point then stacked and blended. I think the result is absolutely stunning.
My new Canon R6 camera can shoot multiple exposures at different focal lengths. It steps the lens focus point from the near starting point out through so many shots at a preset distance.
This is one of my first photos using this technique. I don’t think it will be the last.

Stepping out onto our Lanai, I spotted this little mouse chowing down on the fruit that the geckos were enjoying the day before. Popular palm tree even if it is thirty feet above the ground.
While walking along the main street in Kona, we saw a number of these very bright and pretty finches flitting about. Such wonderful color.
